How did you first hear about Humanity and Hope?

I started following H&H on instagram after hearing about it briefly on a podcast through Ben Higgins.  I've always wanted to be involved in an organization that helped other people but never agreed to just handing out 'free stuff" and then leaving the people to fend for themselves.  So after learning about the pillars and mission of H&H I decided to go for it and let them know I was interested in a trip!

What was your favorite part of going to Honduras?

The people are my absolute favorite part of visiting Honduras!  The Hondurans in the communities are genuinely grateful, love the Lord, and enjoy H&H volunteers visiting and learning about their culture.

How has being a part of H&H changed your daily life?

After visiting H&H's communities the first time, I realized that I had a passion for helping others and it is essential for me to be happy.  More importantly, it verified that God gives us all a purpose, and one of my purposes is to educate (on my passion for oral health) and to share what I have with those who are in need.

Advice to someone thinking of going on a trip?

Try it at least one time.  Take a little bit of time to read about H&H, talk to volunteers and those who have been. Humanity and Hope is like no other group you will ever travel with.  The people are truly real and care about what they are doing to help other humans. I consider a lot of the H&H staff as role models for myself and my children, they don't know it... but they take up a big place in my heart!

What do you do outside of volunteering with H&H?

Outside of volunteering with H&H, my husband and I lead a weekly bible study (life group) in our home, with members of our church. We also volunteer each year for Mission of Mercy which is a free dental clinic that travels throughout the USA, we love it when MOM visits our state of Kansas and we can give back to our community! As a family, we participate in the H&H education program by donating monthly and video chatting with the sweet student that we are so proud of!
