We believe everyone deserves a safe, dignified place to call home.
Just a few years ago, all the families of La Cuchilla were living in structures made of sticks, mud, and bamboo. These “homes” did not keep them safe or dry, and they lost all that they owned each time the river flooded.
So, over the past few years, Humanity and Hope has built 15 floodproof homes in this community. This past November, those with the new floodproof homes lost nothing! But many more families are still in need of a safe, dignified, and permanent place to call home.
Our goal in 2025 is to build 15 more floodproof homes in this community. These homes will be built on stilts that will withstand flooding, and will include running water, electricity, 2 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, shower, and a bathroom. These will be homes built for thriving, not just surviving! Each home will cost $20,000.
Please help us build 15 more floodproof homes in 2025. Maybe you are able to provide a home? Maybe you can organize your family and friends to come together to provide a home? Or, you can simply donate what you can using the donate now button below. Together we will bring hope to the Honduran families we know and love.
It is important to note that we won't just be giving these floodproof houses away. Each family will be the legal owner of their new home because they will be making affordable monthly mortgage payments. They will be proud and empowered because they are homeowners for the very first time in their life. And, they will own something valuable that can be passed down to the next generation.
Beyond just giving money, we also encourage you to join us on a trip to Honduras to meet these families and see the homes you’re helping build. Come and experience hope that transforms you and those around you.
