H&H Stories
Everyday we see and experience stories of transformation in the work we do. Families and individuals are experiencing life-change through our 6 pillars of infrastructure, economy, community, health, education, and leadership. These stories and testimonies of sustainable change are made possible because of your generosity. Check out some of them below!
My H&H Story: Emerita Hernandez
Emerita Hernandez was once a shy woman from La Coroza. But now she leads the women in her community boldly and is the shared owner of two businesses.
“I was shy because I didn’t have the love I should have, but when the foundation came…
My H&H Story: Paula & Rodrigo Diaz
A planned vacation to Hawaii quickly turned into a trip to Honduras during a Sunday church service. Nine years later, Paula and Rodrigo passionately serve Honduras alongside H&H.
“Seeing people starting to believe in themselves… is amazing….”
My H&H Story: Darwin Suazo
When Darwin first learned about H&H, he told us what moved his heart was how the volunteers were showing love to the people in the communities. “What better way to answer the call from God to love one another than to serve each other? That’s exactly what H&H does.”
My H&H Story: Doña Olivia
Doña Olivia, a 74-year-old woman from La Coroza, told us that years ago, before she met H&H, her life and her health looked very different than it does now. “I suffered a lot… but not anymore…”
My H&H Story: Ally Browning
Ally Browning has made a tremendous impact on Humanity and Hope over the past years through serving on staff and as an active volunteer.
“H&H has given me the opportunity to see how much I have been given and how I am just a steward of that.”
My H&H Story: Elsy Buezo
Elsy said that at one time she didn’t care about anyone else. Years later, she leads an entire group of students in her community who’s lives are being transformed through their education. It all started with one conversation. “I told him that if he had seen that in me it was for a reason…”
My H&H Story: Fabiola Calix
Years ago, Dr. Fabiola never could’ve expected to be where she is now. Aside from her personal family growing, she now says she has an even bigger family at H&H and is able to serve every day in communities. “I have been more than a doctor… I have been his family.”
My H&H Story: Ben Higgins
Ben Higgins has been a key part of Humanity and Hope United’s purpose and success since it started in 2010, and now serves on the Board. “H&H has been a life-breathing mission for me because it’s given me a purpose.”
My H&H Story: Onan Cuellar
After the hurricanes in 2020, we hired Onan to work in disaster relief with us. Onan told us that before he began started with H&H, he had a different perspective on life.
"Before, I was more selfish from my heart with others… Now it feels good to serve others."
My H&H Story: Wendy & Miguel
As a result of relentless prayer and God’s provision through H&H, Miguel and Wendy of Remolino have experienced a drastic life change. “I think that there are just blessings after blessings coming their way because they decided to believe in God and choose the right path.”
