5 Questions with Jordan Fuller

We are so excited to share that April 1, 2020, is Jordan Fuller’s one year anniversary with Humanity and Hope! Jordan is our President of Operations and oversees all the work we do in Honduras on a day to day basis. Jordan’s commitment to Humanity and Hope is unparalleled — he spends a ton of time in Honduras working diligently with our team and in the communities we serve. Humanity and Hope truly would not be able to do what we do without his leadership, and we are so happy to have him on the team!

What were you doing before you joined H&H?

Before joining H&H officially last year, I was working at U.S. Bank in compliance. It’s a miracle story actually. The [Humanity and Hope] board planned in late 2017 for me to become co-president at H&H in April 2019. In December 2018, U.S. Bank laid me off with a full severance until April 2019. God allowed me to learn from my dad and take a break during the start of the H&H chapter and the end of the U.S. Bank chapter.

Why did you decide to get involved?

There is nothing more impactful I could with my life than try to end poverty in neglected communities in Honduras. I was also excited to get more involved in H&H’s thriving community. From the full-time team, to the H&H board, to our INCREDIBLE volunteers, H&H has a stacked team.

What’s one thing that has surprised you the most during your time with H&H?

What has surprised me is the importance of unity. Life can be lonely, but the richness of doing things truly together gives me an amazing high. I've experienced that unity in all three of our communities — between H&H and the community. I felt it with our full-time team, the H&H family of donors and volunteers, the H&H board of directors, with our new friends at International Hope Builders, and with the municipality of El Progreso. Seeing different groups of people act in harmony to serve others is marvelous.

What have been your highlights through 12 months at H&H?

There have been so many highlights over the past year, but here are a few that come to mind.

  • Turning the chicken businesses over to the women of La Coroza and Remolino

  • The opening of the cattle business in La Coroza

  • Our staff family day at the beach in Tela

  • Having several people accept Christ as the leader of their lives

  • The improvement of attendance in schools in all three communities

  • Our partnership with International Hope Builders on houses in La Cuchilla

  • Our strong partnership with the city of El Progreso in bringing electricity to La Cuchilla

How has working with H&H changed your life?

To have my dream job makes me ridiculously grateful. Who would not want to lead ending poverty in neglected communities in Honduras? This is honestly the best job on Earth.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

I passed out in an 8th grade Christmas choir concert. Riley still teases me about it, but my Dad tells me not to listen to him. :)
