Today we are so excited to highlight Darwin Suazo, Humanity and Hope’s project and sales manager. If you’ve been on a trip to Honduras with us, Darwin was probably one of the first people you met — and he probably greeted you with a smile and a giant hug.
Darwin is a huge addition to our team in Honduras, and his salary is paid thanks to our partnership with Generous International. Part of the proceeds from each Generous purchase goes toward Humanity and Hope, allowing Darwin to continue supporting the families and communities we serve in Honduras. We are so grateful for you, Darwin!
What were you doing before you joined H&H?
Before joining Humanity and Hope I had my own landscaping company in Honduras. But I actually grew up in Houston, Texas. When I was younger, I got into some trouble and went to jail. In jail, I accepted Jesus and was then deported to Honduras, where I began serving God. I eventually became a hard-working man and learned about Humanity and Hope. Now I’m 37 years old and happily married with two kids in Honduras and two kids in the United States.
Why did you decide to get involved?
There are many reasons, but one of the main reasons why I got involved is because I agreed with the vision that H&H has for the communities in Honduras. The Bible also sends us to love one another, and the best way to love one another is by helping one another. That's what H&H does. I work as an infrastructure manager, so I'm in charge of leadership in the communities and sales.
What’s one thing that has surprised you the most during your time with H&H?
One of the most surprising things I have seen is selfless people who are still in need of so much helping other people who are even more in need. I believe that we are all blessed in some way to be able to bless others.
How has working with H&H changed your life?
Working with H&H has made me feel happy. I think I'm a better person now because I'm part of helping other people accomplish some of their goals in life. My life is great, so I want to be able to share that with others. I’m a person who has a great family, a great job, and also great health.
What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
I think the leadership that God has put in me and the respect and love that I show to others. My hope is that I can share all experiences that I have had in my life so that other people don’t make the same mistakes I did.
