We can’t wait for you to learn a little bit more about Daniel Mejia, Humanity and Hope’s strategic initiative coordinator in Honduras. Daniel is such an integral part of the team, and we wouldn’t be where we are today without him. Thanks so much for everything you do, Daniel!
What were you doing before you joined H&H?
I was going through a really hard time before I started working for Humanity and Hope. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to be doing, and I felt really lost. I used to work in customer service, but I was also considering leaving Honduras to work for a cruise line company in Europe.
Why did you decide to get involved?
I have always felt called to serve others, and this is something that I really enjoy doing. I started out as a volunteer with Humanity and Hope, mostly doing translating. Then, God gave me the opportunity to be part of something huge – to do what He wants me to do – and, most importantly, to follow the purpose He planted in me. Because of this calling, I knew I was making the right choice.
What’s one thing that has surprised you the most during your time with H&H?
Before I started working for Humanity and Hope, I thought I was going to change other people’s lives. I soon learned that it was actually other people who were changing me, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to learn from so many amazing people.
How has working with H&H changed your life?
I feel like I have a new perspective on life and have grown so much as a person since joining Humanity and Hope. I now understand why God kept me away from many situations that I thought were good for me at the time. I realize now, it was all part of His plan.
What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
When volunteers join us on a trip, they’re usually surprised to learn that I’m only 22 years old. But I turn 23 on October 26th!
