Meet the Rodriguez Family
Together, let’s build them a new home.
This October we are raising funds to build the Rodriguez’s a new home. Here’s why.
The Rodriguez family has been living in Remolino their entire lives. Three years ago, Lino Rodriguez built this house for his family with the resources he had because he needed a place to live with his wife and two daughters.
Lino told us that before he built this home, he had more land. But in 2015, his wife miscarried after 6 months and Lino had to sell half of his land to pay for hospital bills.
Lino showed us his home and told us a little bit about it.
“We don’t have electricity at this house because we don’t have resources; that’s one of the problems. Another problem is that the ceiling is not properly attached to the house. We just put some rocks on top so that it stays.”

He told us that when it rains, the house leaks because the roof has holes in it. Water often gets inside, and if there is a big storm, they have to leave the house because the wind usually takes the roof off.
“This is the main reason why we would like to have a house, and we have hope in our heart that soon it will be our chance and H&H will help us.”
Lino Rodriguez works with H&H in the corn fields and has been for 6 years. He told us he is very thankful for this job because it helps provide for his family.
“Thanks to them I have the opportunity to get some money so I can take food to my table and feed my family. My daughters now are able to go to school, and they even have tutors who help them with homework.”
Lino’s kind heart was evident after talking to him. He shared with us how happy he is that H&H has partnered with his community, and that many others have received a house.
“Through the years I have seen how H&H helps our community and how some families have received their house already, and I’m really happy for them. Sometimes I have helped them with the construction, as well.”
Lino told us he believes that one day he too will have a safe home for his family. He is praying and believing it will happen.
“My dream, what I always ask God, is that one day will be my chance and I will have my house specially for my daughters, so they can have a proper place to live in, and I have faith that this will happen.”
