Volunteer Spotlight: Hannah DeHart

Meet Hannah! Hannah DeHart joined us for her first group trip in June 2018 and immediately got involved in the H&H community. She serves as a student sponsor and is also a member of the Hope Circle. Hannah is from Indiana but lives in Houston, Texas. Read all about Hannah’s experience as a Hope Circle member and why she chooses to be a part of our community!

How did you get involved with H&H?

I found out about H&H through a friend. I immediately was interested in going on a trip to serve!

What inspires you to be a Hope Circle member?

Being a Hope Circle member is a way to love others and to be a part of something so much bigger than myself. We are loved by our Creator, Jesus Christ, and we are called to love others as Christ loves us. This is one way I can be a part of change, sharing hope with my student and to be a positive influence in his life.

How does being a Hope Circle member impact you?

As an educator here in the US, I value the powerful impact adult interactions and good education can have on children. I get to help an amazing student chase his dreams. I didn't do this for reward, or any self-satisfaction, but it is so rewarding to know that my financial support and monthly zoom calls play a part in providing opportunities for my student to gain an education and to work towards his goals.

Anything else you would like to share with us?

I posted this after my trip in 2018. Kinda cool - because all 3 have water now!

“HOPE. Hope to me is Jesus. Hope is what saved my life through the grace of Jesus. Hope was a new beginning for me to find joy again. The meaning of this word has even more value to it after spending time in Honduras. These beautiful people have hope in Jesus. These people of God have hope because of @humanityandhope. Hope is clinging to the promises of Jesus, but also having hope in humanity as we are called to serve one another. Something that will stick with my heart is hearing the villagers say, “We know we are not forgotten because humanity and hope keeps coming back. We know we haven't given up on it.” 2/3 of the villages now have clean water thanks to God & this organization. And that gives me hope—- that the best is yet to come for these incredible, hard-working, selfless children of God. So thankful to be a part of something so much bigger than myself.”
