Let’s start a chicken processing business!

With your help, we aim to start a new chicken processing business for the women in our partner communities.  This new business will drive economic growth and advance our mission of building hope by giving these women control over production, processing, and sales. 

By improving margins, creating jobs, and streamlining operations, the new chicken processing business will provide fresh and frozen chicken, while generating lasting change for women, their families, and their communities.  This project also supports the growth of the five chicken businesses we’ve already established in our partner communities.

THE process

Purchase young chickens from local seller

• Grow in chicken coop for 6 weeks

• Move to processing plant & slaughter

• Sell to buyer fresh or store in freezer room & sell later

the bigger picture

With our current chicken business process, we are dependent on local sellers of chicks and local buyers of our chickens. With the chicken processing business, we will eliminate many outside variables which will give more control to these women who co-own the business, as well as greater profitability from this part of the value chain.
