How did your childhood influence your life and career?
I grew up in a rural community very similar to the communities that Humanity and Hope serves. I was surrounded by many difficulties and a lack of resources from a young age. Now, I realize that my struggles were the engine that always pushed me to move forward — to never stop dreaming and pursuing those dreams. By the grace of God and the advice of my father, I’m achieving my dreams now. I know I have a long way to go, but the life I had to live in childhood has taught me to face any obstacles that arise.
Now I realize that my struggles were the engine that always pushed me to move forward — to never stop dreaming and pursuing those dreams.
— Ever Hernandez
Why did you decide to get involved with Humanity and Hope?
From a young age, my parents instilled in me a love for other people and a belief that we should always try to serve those around us. I always try to make those teachings worthwhile. God has blessed me in presenting work opportunities dedicated to that end. When I was younger, many people from different organizations and foundations did great things for me and my family. Now it is time to continue giving back all that support I received.
What are you most excited about in your new job?
I feel happy because God has again given me the opportunity to do what I like and that is to be able to support more people so that they can have more opportunities to get ahead with our support. I know very well that the task will not be easy because situations arise in some cases beyond our control. However, with faith and trust in God, we can face challenges with wisdom and leave with the best of results.
What is one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?
I lost my mother when I was 11 years old. I grew up in very unfavorable conditions in many ways, but in spite of everything, my life has been full of blessings. Thanks to that, I earned a full scholarship to university and have been able to get a good education up to a master’s degree.
Please join us in welcoming Ever to the H&H family! We are so excited to have him on the team!
